  • Auxiliary systems: batteries, DC supply, and control panels

Hands-On: Equipment identification and specifications

 

Module 3 — Substation Design Principles

  • Design considerations for transmission and distribution substations
  • Layout optimization and space planning
  • Selection of voltage levels and equipment ratings
  • Environmental and regulatory compliance

Workshop: Create a simple substation layout

 

Module 4 — Substation Protection & Control

  • Protection schemes for transformers, feeders, and busbars
  • Relay coordination and automation
  • SCADA and monitoring systems
  • Control room operations and data management

Lab: Simulation of relay operation and protection logic

 

Module 5 — Switchgear Operation & Maintenance

  • Types of switchgear (air, oil, SF6, vacuum)
  • Operation procedures and interlocking
  • Maintenance scheduling and inspection
  • Troubleshooting common issues

Module 6 — Grounding, Earthing & Safety

  • Principles of grounding and earthing systems

Module 8 — Capstone Project: Integrated Substation Design & Operation
