Lean Six Sigma Roadmap

Training Introduction:

The auditing profession is evolving rapidly in response to increasing demands for efficiency, risk-based focus, and added value. Lean Six Sigma (LSS) provides a structured, data-driven methodology that helps audit professionals identify inefficiencies, reduce process variation, and enhance audit quality. This course equips auditors with Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques to improve the end-to-end audit lifecycle — from planning and fieldwork to reporting and follow-up.

By leveraging the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) roadmap, participants will learn how to optimize audit planning, enhance risk assessments, reduce rework and cycle time, and deliver more impactful audit results. This course is ideal for internal and external auditors, audit managers, compliance teams, and quality assurance professionals.

• Audit rework and error analysis

Module 5: Improve Phase – Enhancing Audit Processes

Objective: Design and implement effective solutions to improve the audit process.

• Standardizing working papers and testing procedures
• Using Lean tools: 5S in audit documentation, visual controls
• Automation opportunities (e.g., RPA in audit testing)
• Process redesign for better evidence collection

Objective: Ensure improvements are sustained and embedded into standard audit practices.

Module 8: Audit Process Improvement Project & Change Management

Objective: Integrate LSS project execution with change leadership and prepare for audit-focused certification or rollout.

• Change Management (ADKAR Model) for audit teams
• Leading continuous improvement within audit functions
• Presenting audit improvement projects
