Environmental Management in Development
(Capacity Building Course)

Introduction
Environmental sustainability is an essential pillar
of responsible and inclusive development. Poorly managed development activities
can degrade natural resources, increase vulnerability to climate change, and
compromise the long-term well-being of communities.
This training equips participants with the
knowledge, skills, and tools needed to integrate environmental management
practices into development policies, programs, and projects. It is based on
international best practices, national frameworks, and community-based
approaches.

Training Objectives
By the end of this training, participants will be
able to:
- Understand
environmental systems and the impact of development on the environment
- Apply
principles of sustainable development and environmental governance
- Conduct
Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Strategic Environmental
Assessments (SEAs)
- Mainstream
environmental considerations into project planning, implementation, and
monitoring
- Develop
and implement environmental management plans (EMPs)
- Promote
climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and pollution control in
development processes

Certificate of Completion
Issued to participants who:
- Attend
at least 85% of sessions
- Complete
group work, field assignments, and exercises
- Participate
actively in discussions and simulations
Professional Certificate in
Environmental Management for Development (Advanced Track)
Granted to those who:
- Submit
a final project (e.g., mini EIA, environmental audit, or policy
brief)
- Pass
a final written or oral assessment
- Demonstrate
applied competence in integrating environment into development
